Solutions for Scotland

CliniSys is the only supplier able to provide joined up IT solutions for the whole patient journey with proven and market leading solutions that are ideally placed to maximise the value of diagnostics for Scotland.

Distribute Service Model

NHS Scotland’s strategy ( for the future is that provision of laboratory services will take the form of a distributed service model (DSM). An incremental approach to the transformation is being adopted to enable delivery of the new model that requires alignment of services across the constituent Health Boards. The existing services within the Health Boards currently employ LIMS from a number of different vendors with CliniSys being one of the main suppliers of LIMS systems in Scotland.

CliniSys believes that the latest developments being incorporated into ICE supports this strategy and is ideally placed to support the proposed Distributed Services Model and National Laboratory Programme for Scotland.

There was great interest from all NHS boards in Scotland who joined our digital event, where we explored how our ICE solution supports all aspects of order communications and result reporting in the various diagnostic care settings at a Health Board, regional or potentially national level. This event covered the optimisation of clinical workflows and the following key areas:

  • Diagnostic Networks – Supporting the formation of diagnostic networks, with the ability to publish services and results across all ICE systems connected in a network and interop with multiple PAS systems. Patient governance is assured with a patient centric, consolidated view of the patient spanning all ICE systems in the network.
  • COVID-19 Workflows – Latest innovations to support streamlined workflows in response to the pressures of the pandemic.
  • ICE Portal – Extending COVID test requesting and reporting capabilities into all care settings including care homes.

We were able to show how ICE can work within the existing IT solutions landscape, be that EPRs, Order Communication systems, Laboratory Information Management systems etc. and bring the information together to present a consolidated patient view.
