Empath, the stand-alone organisation established by Nottingham University Hospitals and the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS trusts to provide pathology services to the Trusts has appointed CliniSys and Capita Healthcare Decisions to deliver a Blood Transfusion system to the sites served by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust; namely Leicester General, Leicester Royal and Glenfield Hospitals.
The decision to award the solution to Capita Healthcare Decisions and their partner CliniSys followed procurement via the NHS Supply Chain framework and becomes the third joint project for Capita and CliniSys following wins at Bristol and the Pathology Partnership in the East of England.
The CliniSys managed service solution is delivered on the proven Capita Healthcare hosted platform using CliniSys’ WinPath Enterprise software to provide the service to empath. Empath will benefit from a single point of contact for program delivery and realise additional benefits from an integrated service management function allowing for a service level agreement from the application down to the network. The strategic partnership with Capita allows for a highly resilient and efficient model providing an extremely flexible and scalable platform to meet the future needs of the new organisation.
Paul Shaw, Managing Director for empath says “We are pleased to be building on our existing relationship with CliniSys in Nottingham to deploy WinPath to the empath sites in Leicester. Sharing a single IT system across all the empath sites is a key step in providing an efficient, safe and cost effective service to all our users. The hosted service for Blood Transfusion provides the first step on our journey to a single system across the whole empath service”.
Ross Richardson, Client Director of Managed Services Healthcare adds. “Empath is another valued customer of our hosted LIMS offering and represents the strength of the relationship between CliniSys and Capita. The latest win at empath builds on the recent success we’ve had at The Pathology Partnership and NHS Bristol. What is clear, is that Trusts looking to consolidate their Pathology want to remove the risk and the operational and administrative burden of supporting the infrastructure and Capita, in partnership with CliniSys are ideally placed to respond to this.
Fiona Pearson, CliniSys Chief Executive Officer commented “We are delighted to be able to provide another key client with our pathology IT solutions to maintain pathology service excellence and to support the drive for increased operational efficiency. It is central to us not only to be able to provide outstanding functionality but an ongoing partnership that meets the Trust’s operational and commercial objectives. This partnership again demonstrates our ability to meet the changing needs of our customers and the pathology service.”
