Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services has been given the go-ahead to run one of the new NHS lighthouse laboratories. It will form part of NHS Test and Trace, joining Britain’s largest network of diagnostic testing facilities increasing coronavirus testing capacity by tens of thousands.

Black Country Pathology Services has pushed ahead with a major initiative to create a laboratory network to serve four trusts and delivered a successful go-live for its CliniSys laboratory information system despite the coronavirus emergency.
In order to enable a broad national covid-19 screening program, the Dutch government took the decision to launch a central IT platform, the 'CoronIT platform'. The rapid connection of all GGD's testing laboratories to this platform was an essential part of the project. In the Netherlands, the MIPS LIS solution ‘GLIMS’ is core to more than 70% of microbiology laboratories and therefore had an important contribution to make to the success of the platform go-live. Today all 12 GGD test laboratories are connected to the CoronIT platform. Further 15 laboratories are to go live in a few weeks.
CliniSys has delivered a laboratory link for NHS Nightingale Hospital Bristol (Nightingale Bristol), so clinicians can request tests for patients and receive the results electronically.
We responded rapidly to a request from Severn Pathology for a piece of integration work. This work was to link the IT systems used by the labs at North Bristol NHS Trust with the IT systems used by the Nightingale Bristol. The IT systems used by the Nightingale Bristol are run out of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
New functionality in the CliniSys Integrated Clinical Environment (ICE) application is now available to report tests quickly and efficiently as labs build up testing capability.

WinPath Enterprise will replace ageing IT at three trusts, support the development of a pathology hub and spoke service, improve the availability of test results for clinicians and patients, and lay the foundations for a wider pathology network.
